USPCA 'Art for Animals' Exhibtion Opens at The Glen Gallery, Cregagh Library

Hold onto your paintbrushes, Belfast! The Ulster Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (USPCA) is thrilled to present its very first art exhibition, "Art for Animals" at The Glen Gallery, Cregagh Road Library, Belfast. This exciting, heartwarming event launched on Friday 21st February with the Lord Mayor of Belfast officially opening the exhibition. It remains open to the public until Friday 21st March 2025.

Curator and USPCA volunteer Joanne McKeever, alongside Rachel McGreevy, Area Coordinator for the USPCA's four charity shops across Northern Ireland, have meticulously curated a stunning and diverse collection of artwork, gathering exceptional pieces from every corner to create a truly inspiring exhibition. With donated artwork from the public and incredible pieces kindly donated by local artists including Linda & Sharon Shaw, Brenda Mason, Bex Crowley-Armer, Alison McQuade, John Stewart, and Francis McCrory, this exhibition truly has something for everyone. Whether you're captivated by bold, expressive abstracts or enchanted by the charm of a perfectly painted penguin, this collection promises to offer a piece that will speak to you.

Joanne, a dedicated volunteer at the USPCA's Belfast shop, shared her vision for the exhibition:

"Art for Animals is about more than just showcasing incredible artwork. It's an opportunity to bring the community together and raise awareness of the ongoing needs of the animals in our care. Every piece of art, every donation, helps us continue providing vital services, from rescue and rehabilitation to rehoming and education."

The event has also gained support from The Local Pet Awards as Director Gail Murphy, expressed her enthusiasm:

"The Local Pet Awards are delighted to support this fantastic event in partnership with the USPCA. As passionate advocates for animal welfare, we recognise the vital work the USPCA does in protecting and caring for Northern Ireland's pets. The gallery event is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the special bond between people and their pets while raising awareness for such an important cause."

So, come for the art, stay for the cause, and maybe even leave with a new masterpiece for your home and one that will remind you of the contribution you've made to helping animals in Northern Ireland.
