Badger Persecution - The Facts

The USPCA / Sunday Times investigation into Badger Baiting has infiltrated an evil crime that defiles our countryside.

We knew it was widespread but the actual scale of persecution has sent a shockwave through the island of Ireland.

Northern Ireland has a welter of legislation intended to protect a species and its habitat that is an asset to our native wildlife.

Laws are fine but without prevention and the threat of prosecution they are of little value. The Minister's stated intention to Increase sentences will remain a politicians sound bite until the PSNI, Environment & Hertitage Service bring wildlife criminals before the Courts with the full support of the Public Prosection Service.

The USPCA and our native badgers owe a debt of gratitude to John Mooney and his colleagues in the Sunday Times for their co-operation in a challenging and valuable investigation into the sadistic filth of badger persecution.

Photographs of this atrocity and the full article can be viewed by clicking this link. Be warned these show a badger being torn asunder by dogs and the injuries suffered by both the badger and the aggressors.
