He came to live with us in November 1999 when he was only 12 weeks old. He is now 8 years old & in great health, still enjoying his daily walks in the Commons.

Thanks to the USPCA for the years of pleasure Riley has brought to our lives.

Poppy Woods

Poppy WoodsHi everyone! Here is a photo of me having a walk in Silent Valley with my new owners. They take me there quite often & if they let me off the lead I can chase squirrels & rabbits which is brilliant fun. I The house where I live has lots of cats which I mistakenly thought were for chasing! A few scratches on the nose soon taught me a lesson.
Happy Christmas to all 2 legged & 4 legged at Carryduff and thank you for looking after me until I got a new home.

Poppy

PoppyHi!!!! I’m Poppy,

I was adopted by the Macklin family in February from the USPCA. I am having lots of fun at the Marklin’s house, except for their cat, but we stay out of each others way! I love long walks and spend all my time looking under cars for more cats!

Misty

MistyI have settled happily in my new home. I get a walk every morning across the promenade and back through Marine Gardens. There is an enclosed garden where I can run and play safely and I have squeaky toys to stop me being bored. I am very content. My name has been changed from Buttons to Misty. Thank you for finding me this new home.

Lippy

LippyHi, My name is Lippy, and you rescued me in January 2006. My owners wrote to you a while ago but they thought I should send you another picture to see how well I am doing. Since they last wrote we have moved house and I now have a lovely big garden all to myself, the picture of me was taken on Easter Sunday out in the garden. I have recently been to the vets for a check up and he said I am very healthy and my weight is just perfect. I get fed really well and get lots of nice treats when I am good. My owners walk me every day about 5 miles, which is good exercise for me. I love going on these walks because I meet lots of other dogs and I say hello. Sometimes I get too excited and start rolling and doing tumbles on the grass. I love grass so I cant help but roll about and run around the garden. Although I also love to get up on the sofa and cuddle with my owners, they love to cuddle me as they say I am so cute. In fact everyone I meet says how cute and well behaved I am. I often wonder what happened to my brothers and sisters and wonder if they have a good home like I do. Thank you, again for finding me my owners, I am such a happy dog now.

Lippy was one of 50 Boxers rescued from terrible conditions in a puppy farm last year & we are delighted that Lippy has found a great home.

Scoobie

Scoobiehello there, remember this boy!
we rehomed scoobie about 2 years ago and we could not be happy easily the best dog we have had he is fantastic with our kids who adore him is temperament is first class and though still a bit lively on the lead he loves his weekly runs down the beech! dicing with the water bless him.

Homer

HomerHello, my name is Homer. I am the big dog beside my brother Baby the Westie. I love my new family, they are very good to me and they love me very much. I didn’t think I would get a new home because I am so big but the family knew I would get on well with my brother. I hope when you read this you will take one of my friends from here and give them a new home!!

Peppi

PeppiMy name is Peppi; I was rehomed from USPCA at Carryduff. My new name is brilliant and my new home is great. I had an interest in the ladies but a visit to the vet sorted that out!

Rosie

RosieJust a note to let you know that Rosie has settled in really well. I have been told she is an Irish Red & White Setter. She is very friendly and all the family love her.

Sophie

SophieThese are my rescue dogs, Sophie on the right is 10, her last owner didn’t feed her properly and threw her out. She was so severely underweight her hair had fallen out in places. Carryduff Kennels cared for her and I was privileged to be the one to give her the home she deserved. Teddy on the left is 6 years old, when he came to Carryduff it was evident he had been hit and abused so much he didn’t trust humans any more. Five months on and he realises we are not all cruel abusers and he is a loving and affectionate dog.

Saved from a puppy farm

WestieRescued from of a County Down puppy farm the last twelve months have transformed ‘Hamish’s’ life from incarceration in an unlit outbuilding into a life of indulgence with his new family. Reading the Blake family letter has given the welfare officers involved in the rescue of an anonymous and exploited animal a real boost and a renewed determination to address the evil of puppy farming. “When we first got him he shied away from humans and cowered in the corner.” Amazingly it took only a few weeks to house train him. “Hamish is now an important member of our family and finding him was well worth the queue at Carryduff.” “On behalf of Hamish and the Blake family we thank you, without USPCA intervention our little dog was condemned to a brief life of misery.”

Wee Man

Wee Man‘Wee Man’ the sickly one-eyed Chihuahua was found wandering the streets of Whitehead by local resident Lynne Wilson. He was clearly a poorly animal and spent the next few days at Hollygate Veterinary being treated for his ailments. Whilst he was recovering Lynne made daily enquiries about his health and it was clear the pair had bonded during their first brief meeting.A feisty and fit Wee Man was inevitably re-homed by Lynne and is now a well-known celebrity in the town.

Coco

CocoHi, my name is Coco. I am a female Jack Russell cross.14 months ago you looked after me and found me a good home with Heather & Jim Taylor from Banbridge. They love me to bits and even though I say it myself they are lucky to have me. I am very happy with them. They look after me very well and in return I play with them and give them my love. They took me to the vet for check ups and they even had me educated at dog training classes (I only just passed as I really don’t do begging). Thanks to all the staff & supporters of the USPCA.

Heather & Jim Taylor - Banbridge

Lucy

LucyWhile visiting Carryduff Rescue Centre with a friend who was looking for a new family pet I spotted Lucy, a little Westie in very bad condition. My heart melted & the next day I was back to take her home. Her skin needed treatment & within weeks her condition greatly  improved allowing her lovely nature to shine through. She and my other dog have become best friends. I hope Lucy’s story will encourage others to give neglected dogs a good home. We certainly wouldn’t be without her.

Suzie

SuzieHi All, Just a line to tell you I’m happy and contented in my new home. Also I’m getting on with my new sister Pebbles.
Thinking of you all,

Love Suzie

Friday

FridayHi Everybody, My new name is Friday. Just a note to say that I really love it out here in the countryside. I have a new sister called Cagney. She is a black lab/Spaniel who is 17 years old! We are great friends but her eyesight is very bad. Suits me as I can eat her dinner when she isn’t loooking!

Mum & Dad love to walk me. Mum says it’s better than going to the gym. Dad tries to play fetch the ball with me but I’m not very good at it.
Thank you for letting me go to a good home.
Lots of love
Friday.
Woof! Woof!

Molly

MollyHi, remember the Wee Westie you had in a few months ago?
We fell in love with her & brought her home with us. We named her Molly.
Her hair was so long she kept walking into things as she couldn’t see properly!

We cut her hair which makes her look years younger & had her checked over by a Vet who fortunately said there was nothing seriously wrong with her.
She has settled in so well, has the run of the house & is a joy to have.
I remember we were unsure whether or not to take Molly but we are so glad we did. She is a real pet.

PS You all do a great job!!
Mandy & Nigel

Foxy

FoxyDear USPCA,
Foxy is getting on well and she is spayed. She loves running around, getting walked and rolling in the grass. Foxy has settled in very well & we are used to having her around. We are so glad we came to Carryduff and chose her. We love our FOXY!

Thanks Carryduff,
Adam, Peter, Mark, Steven, David & Pauline

I was rescued from USPCA in July  2008 – I have a lovely garden, house & new Mum – all to myself – life is so very good now. My Vet thinks I am about 3-4 years old & my mum is giving me my birthday on Boxing Day!
Nobody knows why I ended up in the USPCA, but I thank the person who picked me up. I am a real good boy, house-trained, obedien, full of fun & very loving.

Thanks to the USPCA & my new Mum for giving me another chance.

Oscar

Oscar & ScruffDear all,
We adopted Oscar a year & six months ago as a companion dog for my mother. Scruff was adopted by my daughter two years ago. Both dogs are doing really well. Just thought we would let you know how well they are doing.
Best wishes

Baxter

BaxterBaxter here, You may remember me as Max but my new family changed my name. I’m sure you will remember me when you see the pictures after all I am so cute how could you forget!
Thanks for keeping such good care of me when I was with you. I have been with my new family since February & like it more every day. My new family adore me & can’t imagine why anyone would abandon me, perhaps it’s because I get a bit sick sometimes. My Vet says its just because I have a sensitive tummy & I have to be careful what I eat ... no more seaweed from the beach....DARN!
My family say I am the best dog they have ever met & would encourage everyone to give a dog from your shelter a chance of a good home.
Paws & Hugs
Baxter Wilson-George
